Was Reverend Wright Wrong? Sarah (my wife) asked me yesterday if I thought what he said the other day was so bad. The answer is no, as a matter of fact I pretty much agree with him. And this is really the reason why guys like Kucinic and Nader keep running. The debate surrounding Reverend Wright’s comments never really ventures into the area of “what was so bad about what he said?” OK, I get that some people think saying “God Damn America” is somehow blasphemous, but I don’t. For what we have done to blacks in the past 200 years God Damn America is pretty timid. As for 9-11 being our “chickens coming home to roost” I agree as well. I mean our imperialistic actions throughout the world, which we carry out without regard for right or wrong, have caused a great number of people in the world to hate us.
I don’t agree with everything that Reverend Wright says, and I think Obama was right on when he used this controversy as an opportunity to discuss the divisiveness of race in America, BUT I do think it sad that a discussion of whether Reverend Wright’s comments were so awful to begin with is not allowed to take place. Especially in the “liberal” media, which did not for one second take up that issue.
Surf week continued with some modern surf in the form of Davie Allen and the Arrows. This album was a maybe a little to cycle delic to be considered classic surf, but I enjoyed it quite a bit, 7.5 out of 9.4.

Is this the old Davie Allan stuff or new? Because I've heard both and the old stuff kicked some major butt in my opinion. But the new stuff is a bit new. I don't think you saw him that night at the old Purple Onion didjya? (wipes away a tear). It was pretty amazing because he had just come out of retirement I guess and hadn't played a gig in years and he was really nervous and appreciative that he had actual fans who were real psyched to see him. Then he rocked so hard that he blew out his amp and I guess maybe he didn't play any more that night or maybe someone brought him a new amp? I scarcely recall but it was pretty neat anyhow. I think it's valid to think about why the terrists hate us, but same as the IRA blowing up chip shops, you know, there were valid reasons for it, but they were still fukrs. So there's that. -Andrew
Oh I am not saying they are not fuckers, just that to say we are part of the problem isn't so crazy, is it? And new Davie Allan, which probably explain the too delic side of things.
...as in, there is a reason for it other than their hating our freedom. Yes. Excuse me, your freedom. I think the old Davie Allan is kind of delic too in a fuzzy hotroddy sorta way, which is the right way! I'm trying to think what movie I'm trying to think of that his music featured in, maybe Wild in the Streets?
